Rosacea is a chronic disorder of the blood vessels on the skin of the face and typically presents as redness on the cheeks, nose, chin or forehead. This can be constant, have cycles, or flare-ups and remission. All of these can be quite distressing psychologically. Normally as a person reaches the age of 30, the condition worsens, with increasing redness and frequency. Left untreated, blood vessels become noticeable and bumps may appear. Men and women are equally susceptible, but as with most skin conditions, women tend to seek treatment earlier and so have better outcomes.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Absorption of the unique Nd:YAG long pulse 1064nm or 755nm LASER heats up the heamoglobin on the treated areas.

Heat transfers to the blood vessel walls, causing contraction and destruction of the blood vessel.

The destroyed blood vessel is eliminated by phagocytosis (the body’s inbuilt removal process via the immune system).

HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED?

The number of sessions depends on the severity, although typically range from 3 to 5 treatments to achieve satisfactory resolution. In many cases, the visible signs of improvement can be immediate. Rosacea, unfortunately, may reoccur over time, thus maintenance with single treatments only may be required if the signs of redness reappear.

DOES IT HURT?

Most people find this treatment extremely comfortable and there is really no pain. The LASER is used to heat the area of the Rosacea and an infrared thermometer is used to carefully monitor the temperature of the skin. Overall, it is a very well tolerated treatment.

IS IT A SAFE TREATMENT?

New Leaf Cosmetic Clinic use FDA approved GentleMax Pro LASER. This is 100% safe and many thousands of treatments have been performed over the years worldwide. Syneron Candela have perfected this technology to treat Rosacea.

WHAT IS THE DOWNTIME OR RECOVERY AFTER A TREATMENT?

There is no real downtime after treatment. There is, however, slight redness and heat on the face after the treatment. This will ease within a few hours. The LASER is not disrupting the integrity of the skin, it is merely heating the heamoglobin and the stimulated circulatory system clears the treated area thereafter. There isn’t any noticeable sign of a “healing phase” as the healing occurs under the superficial layers of your skin.
